916M: Making Sense: Welcome to the New World of Malaysian Political Thugs

February 28, 2009 · Leave a Comment

You know what? It is really true that these thugs did not touch anyone. Just take a look at the third picture below, the guy in purple did not touch the other guy, his palms were just 1mm above this other guys’ chest, he was just checking the heartbeat of this other guy.

Welcome to the New World of Malaysian Political Thugs.

“If  you call us celaka, we will demand an apology (but it is OK for us to call you a pendatang).”

“If you question our rights, we will mobilise street protests (and it is NOT OK if you take to the streets for we do not condone mob culture).”

“If you dare touch the Royalty, we will defend them till the last drop of our blood (well, nevermind about the fact that we had removed the royal immunity many years back).”

This is the Malaysian Democracy.

Well, this is for now the current lop-sided Malaysian Democracy.

But, not for long.

This will have to change, the time will come; let us be patient.

True Democracy is where people agree to disagree; but whilst frank, people must be sincere and diplomatic. So, yes, if you say something we do not like, let us talk it over. If we do not agree with what you say, and if you do not agree with what we say, then let us see if we can accept each other. Let us see if we can meet halfway. Let us give and take.

Let us build for the future of our next generations.

MalaysiaKini: Pemuda Umno: MP Pakatan punca kecoh
Muda Mohd Noor | Feb 27, 09 6:01pm

“Karpal menjawab ’saya malas nak layan kamu, saya nak masuk dewan Parlimen’,” kata Lat lagi.

MalaysiaKini: Pemuda enggan minta maaf isu Karpal
Jimadie Shah Othman | Feb 27, 09 6:44pm

916M: Making Sense: Perak Conspiracy Theory

February 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

If you would think of it, how could it be so easy for BN to topple Pakatan Perak?

Once UMNO got both Jamaluddin and Osman in their grasp (ie after setting them up previously, and subsequently blackmailing them with corruption charges), BN knew that they have in hand 28 + 2 = 30. A majority of 1 would have been sufficient, but if they could have more, then better.

Then, with Hee in hand, after months of instigation and with inducements, the nail the coffin was sealed.

And yes, of course, Nasaruddin was indeed a Trojan Horse.

Next, they had to work on the Perak Royalty. How could it be so conceivable for the Sultan to have made such a decision (ie not to dissolve the State Assembly, but to recognise the BN + 3 instead), given at the least his track record as the head of judiciary, if not for some kind of blackmail or similar? If you would recall the manner in which Najib had called for the Press Conference, it felt as if he was confident that the Sultan would decide his way.

Procedurally, the Sultan should have decided on whether he should dissolve the State Assembly or not (ahead of the question as to whether to recognise the BN + 3 block). Circumstances point towards dissolution because that would have been the best way out for all, at least for the Rakyat.

But strangely, the Sultan went the other way.

Something went wrong somewhere. No doubt about this. There was indeed a plot all the way.

But not to worry, we now have Bukit Gantang, and maybe Bukit Selambau, to drive home the point.

WE CERTAINLY WANT BN OUT COME GE13: 1,488 DAYS TO GO!!!

916M: Making Sense: Perak – What Next?

February 7, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Many of us would have been rendered speechless the moment DYMM Sultan Azlan Shah decided not to dissolve the Perak Legislative State Assembly, but chose to recognise the questionable Barisan – Indepedents block of 31. We believe many of us are still trying to make sense of this whole debacle, given especially that we have had tremendous respect for Sultan Azlan, who was at one time, the head of the judiciary.

It appears that Sultan Azlan had decided on the basis of law, ie from the angle of which party which commanded the confidence of the members of the Legislative Assembly. As has been pointed out by few constitutional experts, the Sultan’s decision was erroneous; in a nutshell, due process was not followed.

In our view, the Sultan should have just deliberated on DS Nizar’s request for dissolution, which came before DS Najib’s audience with the Sultan. The issue which ought to have been considered should be whether the Sultan should give consent to dissolution, on the basis of whether dissolution would clear doubts as to the political impasse in Perak, or if dissolution is not consented too, whether the political impasse can be addressed peacefully.

Unfortunately, the Sultan went the other way, much to the dismay of many.

Pakatan Rakyat has adopted, in our view, the correct position by not recognising the just appointed Barisan State Goverment, for indeed, previous precedent cases supports its view that dismissal of the MB was done not in accordance with due process.

Indeed, Pakatan should take this case to the courts (not that we can hope much out of the judiciary yet).

In the mean time, life must go on. Let us not cause too much disruption, for greater challenges lie ahead in terms of ensuring that our rice bowls are protected, given that economic turmoil is taking its toll at the global front.

However, this should not stop us from thinking further, to come up with strategies as to how to move ourselves closer to our goal, ie a total wipeout of Barisan at GE13.

Or if someone can come up with a new strategy to redefine the present paradigm so that we can win back Perak or even Malaysia, please share it, and let us see if we can work towards realising the same.

In conclusion, let us fight on, but in a constructive manner, and let us start the countdown now: 1,490 days to go from today until 8 March 2013!!!

916M: Making Sense: Perak paves the way for the future

February 4, 2009 · Leave a Comment

For awhile, we had thought that things were going to get exciting again (as before, post 308, ie with all this hopping around again).

And it appears that Pakatan Rakyat has been caught with their pants down (no, sorry, underpants down as well).

Well, it looks like that Bota guy was planted as a Trojan Horse.

And goodness, Hee Yit Foong of DAP, unbelievable. How could she have done that? A Deputy Speaker? DAP had trusted and entrusted her, and she could appear in Najib’s Press Conference as a “BN-Friendly” Independent? Something is wrong somewhere. If she had been disgusted by the Ngeh-Nga cousins, surely this is not the way to express her dissatisfaction? Something is wrong somewhere. And yes, DAP has failed, they cannot be sure as to those whom they have entrusted to hold important roles.

OK, it is now up to Sultan Azlan to decide. It would indeed be disappointing if a decision other than a dissolution be made. How would it not be obvious that the way forward is to seek a fresh mandate from the Rakyat?

But all is not lost yet. Barisan has paved the way for Pakatan to revive its hopping campaigns. There are no morals at stake now. It is now a matter political manouvres. Whoever manouvres best wins. Just that. Just as simple as that.

Let us hope that Dr K’s predictions will indeed come through. Let us hope that the Barisan Government will fall soon. And let us hope that a new government, hopefully a much-refined Pakatan Government can be formed immediately.

MalaysiaKini: Perak Government collapses: BN claims power
Feb 4, 09 12:12pm
LIVE REPORTS

5.50pm: Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim accuses BN of trying to form government in Perak ‘by hook or by crook’.

“We are pushing for a dissolution of the state assembly and fresh elections in the state. We must go back to the people and get a fresh mandate,” he tells AFP.

“BN is trying to form the state government by hook or by crook – more by crook.”

5.35pm: Mohd Nizar leaves the palace after meeting Sultan Azlan Shah. He tells reporters that he has informed the sultan of his request to dissolve the state assembly.

“It is now up to Tuanku (his highness),” he adds with a smile. The meeting lasted almost two hours.

5.08pm: ‘PERAK GOVERNMENT FALLS’ Najib tells a press conference that Barisan Nasional has the support of the four former Pakatan Perak assemblypersons – three will be “BN-friendly” Independents, while Nasarudin will rejoin Umno.

Najib will meet the Perak sultan as soon as possible. He says it is up to the sultan to decide on Nizar’s request for dissolution of the assembly.

“All three state representatives – Jamaluddin, Osman and Hee – have submitted resignation letters to their former parties and have informed the sultan of their resignation.

“They have also given BN the mandate to select a new menteri besar for Perak.”

Nasarudin denies the claim that he has been abducted.

Najib adds that under Article 16(6) of the Perak constitution, if the menteri besar loses the confidence of the assembly members, he is required to resign, together with all the exco members under him.

However the final decision now hinges on the Sultan of Perak – if he accedes to a Pakatan request for dissolution or allows BN to form the new government.

5.05pm: Mohd Nizar is still at Istana Kinta.

4.28pm: It is learnt that Bota representative Nasarudin Hashim is at the DPM’s office, waiting to be introduced to the media by Najib.

slim majority in perak update 040209With Nasarudin’s reversal of his defection, BN and its independent allies now have 31 seats against Pakatan Rakyat’s 28.

4.25pm Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi, Osman Jailu and Hee Yit Foong are present at the DPM’s office. It is believed that Najib will announce their entry into BN at his press conference.

4pm: DPM Najib Abdul Razak is expected to begin his press conference in Putrajaya soon.

3.50pm: Perak Menteri Besar Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin enters Istana Kinta to meet with Sultan Azlan Shah.
